    About Block

    The Sainthia Dev. Block is stationed at Ahmedpur, 1 KM away on eastern part of Ahmedpur Rly. Station covering 63 acres of barren land far from din & bustle of the town and amidst the lap of nature. The former name of Ahamadpur was ‘Isanpur’.

     

              This block was covered as CDP Block which was inaugurated by Dr. B.C.Roy former Chief Minister of W.B. during 1952 in presence of Sri Gobinda Mondal former Circle officer Sainthia CDP project. The total land was obtained form Surul Estate which was under the possession of Sri Shib Sahay Agarwal of Sainthia and the entire land was handed over to the community Dev. Deptt of the Govt. of W.B.

              The aims and objects for stationing block office at Ahmadpur are as follows:-

    1. To set up a township in such rural area and to provide employment to the refugees to the then newly set up ‘Sugar Mill’ nearly block office which was also inaugurated by Dr. B.C. Roy former Chief Minister of West Bengal.
    2. To provide more facilities to the Agriculturists to fulfill the programme of ‘Green Revolution’ etc and to extend the scope on Development on health , Education and RWS, Small Scale Industries, Animal resources Development etc.

     

    This block started with 13 nos of Gram Panchayats presently there exists 12 nos of G.Ps and Sainthia G.P. has converted to Municipality.
